Kathleen Elizabeth Weber, 69, of Rocky Point, New York, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with Acute Leukemia.

Born in Rockville Centre, New York, and raised in Setauket & Greenport, Kathleen was a loving mother, devoted family member, and cherished friend. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with those she loved, especially her son, Zachary, and daughter, Marissa, who were the pride of her life.

Kathleen dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Stony Brook University Research Foundation. She was also proud to earn her Masters degree from SBU.

Kathleen had a deep appreciation for nature and beauty. She was a passionate interior designer and took great pride in gardening and creating beautiful spaces. For more than 20 years she was actively involved with the Rocky Point Civic Association helping secure $1.2 million in revitalization and dedicating countless hours to improving and beautifying her community.

Kathleen found peace and happiness on the Long Island Sound. She was a member of her local beach and loved spending summer evenings listening to live music at Cedar Beach.

One of Kathleen’s dreams was to go to Greece and just a few months before her diagnosis she realized that dream.

A devoted animal lover, she adored her five cats, Jackson, Jinx, Jake, Valentina and Jetson who brought her comfort, companionship and endless joy throughout the years.

Those who knew Kathleen will remember her caring heart, sense of humor, generous spirit, unwavering strength, and dedication to both her family and community. Even during her illness, she faced each day with courage, grace and resilience, inspiring everyone around her.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Kathleen throughout her battle with special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for their compassion and care.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Marissa Sclafani, her son, Zachary Weber (Elijah Singleton), her granddaughter, Crow Sclafani, her sister Marylou Weber, her brother Jeffrey Weber and her nephews John & Chris Walsh.

May she rest in peace, forever loved, forever remembered.

Guestbook

  1. candleMy adorable friend and warrior! I will always remember our days together laughing and gardening in Rocky Point! You will always be in our hearts.
    With lots of love,
    Jeffrey and Arlene Angard

  2. candleI wish had gotten the chance to know you better. I feel like you were someone who was supposed to be in my life. I hope you have all the vanilla bonnets your belly can handle. ❤️

  3. Kathy was always a staple in my life since junior high. My condolences to Marissa and Zack. And all those folks in Kathy’s life, including Kathy C.

  4. As my neighbor, Kathy reassured me during my acclimation to the neighborhood upon moving to Rocky Point, through my ups and downs with gardening, during COVID, and much more. She would always laugh at my jokes and was sympathetic and supportive. I felt honored that she showed such faith in me as a neighbor, confidante, and caretaker to her cats. She had enormous reservoirs of strength- was a warrior through extraordinarily hard times. I will miss her. xooxox

  5. May your memory be a blessing.
May the Angels be all around you.
May you move world beyond the mind to a place place of peace.

  6. I am heartbroken and still in a state of shock over Kathy’s passing. I worked with Kathy at Stony Brook University. In the relatively short time I knew her, she made such a lasting impact on my life. From the very beginning, at my new-hire breakfast, she welcomed me with kindness and warmth that I will never forget. She was always generous with her time, helping me navigate work, but more importantly, she truly cared about me as a person.

Kathy was always such a resource for me at work. More importantly, though, she was a wonderful friend. She would ask about my new home, my upcoming wedding, and all the little details of life that mattered to me. She had a way of making you feel seen and supported. We quickly felt like old friends, and in many ways she reminded me of my own mom, who lives far away. Kathy once told me, “I am happy to be your work mama,” and I hope she knew just how much that meant to me.

The world was a better place with Kathy in it. She will be deeply missed, and I will always carry her kindness and warmth with me. Kathy truly was a ray of sunshine. I will think of her each time I feel sunshine on my face.

    With heartfelt sympathy,
    Chelsea

  9. candleTo call Kathy a friend is an understatement She was a part of my life. So many moments and memories. I will member forget you, Kathy. Until we meet again. Rest in peace.

  10. Kathy and I met in fifth grade at our neighborhood bus stop for Saturday morning religious ed. I was new to the neighborhood and quite shy and Kathy was the only one who came up and introduced herself. We immediately became close friends. She was always fun and smiling and we had many, many fun and memorable adventures over the years. We lost touch as we grew up and each moved on but reconnected via Facebook and the Ward Melville class of ’75 30th reunion. She was the same warm, smiling, friendly face that I remembered from 5th grade. Although distance has separated us, we’ve kept in tough since then and have gotten together on several occasions. She was and will always be a very special person in my heart.
My deepest condolences to Marissa, Zack and the rest of her family, friends and community. She will be so missed.

  11. I’ll always remember Kathy as one of my sister Jill’s best friends. She is woven into the fabric of my childhood. I’m so sorry for her loss and send my deepest sympathies to her family.

  12. I had the pleasure of working with Kathy at Stony Brook University and will always cherish the memories I have with her. She was a very sweet and loving person and also a very hard worker. Her kindness and warmth toward everyone was very special. I will miss our funny conversations we would share about all of our cats and her wonderful laugh. My condolences go out to her family, friends, and everyone she has touched in her life. Rest in Peace, Kathy. You will always be missed!

  13. candleKathy was an incredibly gentle, warm and welcoming colleague of mine at Stony Brook. I entered a new place not knowing much, and she was always a reliable and trusted resource who always helped me whenever I needed. I speak for all of us who worked with her that she was a great teammate and friend. She will be missed. RIP KATHY

  14. candleI met Kathy at Murphy J.H.S.. We were friends for a long time. We lost connection for quite a few years, but she always reached out to me. Kathy fought a tough battle and I’m sorry that she lost the battle. I will miss you my friend, glad you are at peace. Fly with the angels Kathy.💔
