kenneth wurtemberg

September 29, 1939 ~ April 1, 2026

Born in: Queens, NY
Resided in: Ridge, NY

Ken passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife Suzanne. He was a devoted and loving father to Kathleen (Gary) Rodgers, Christine/Misty Silvestro, and Kenny (Cynthia) Wurtemberg. He was the most proud and loving Pop Pop to Toniann, Katie, Ashley, Shannon, Joey, Dylan, Ava, Andrew, Christina, Roman and great-grandaughter Giavanna, all who brought him immeasurable happiness! With his younger brother Billy Wurtemberg he also shared his strong sense of family and was rooted in faith. His family was the center of his world and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Marie Wurtemberg, sister Cathy and youngest brother Eddy.

He joined the Army at 17 and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne. He continued to lead a life of service, to his country, community, those in need and God. He was an active NYC Auxiliary Police Officer, Boy Scout Leader, Grade School Girls Basketball Coach and Spin Instructor. He was a selfless servant, active in the Lutheran church for years, serving as Church Treasurer, Stewardship and Sunday School Teacher and Stephen Ministiries. He silently supported causes, like sponsoring a Native American child, welcoming two Vietnamese refugees into his home until the church found housing for them and helping rebuild homes in Louisiana for victims of Hurricane Katrina, to name a few. In addition, he took pride and was recognized by NY Blood Services for exemplary platelet donations – a total of 416 platelet donations!

Ken had a deep love for the outdoors, camping, hiking, biking and beaches. He had a special connection with Yosemite National Park which he visited 8 times! He was an avid photographer and could always be found behind the lens capturing countless memories for all to enjoy which we are grateful for and will cherish forever. In his spare time he enjoyed watching baseball, soccer, action movies, listening to jazz or the blues, reading, playing sudoku and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.

Ken will be remembered for his strong faith, love of family, compassion and his quiet generosity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. May he rest in God’s eternal peace and his legacy continue to inspire us.
