Born in:
Brooklyn, NY
Resided in:
Deer Park, NY
Laureen Mender (Marino) beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend lost her long and hard fought battle against cancer on November 4, 2025.
Born to Marion and Barney Marino in Brooklyn NY on November 29, 1953, she was the youngest sibling to Albert, Maryann, and Joseph. She would later gain two more siblings, who were such an import part of her life, her sister in law Pauline and brother in law Raymond.
She was a loving mother to Jeremy, daughter in law Colleen, Jessica and son in law Mike. But the biggest joy in her life were her 6 grandchildren, Caitlin, Dylan, Breanna, Casey, Michael, and Brayden.
Laureen moved to Deer Park in 2019, a move she described as one of the best decisions she ever made. Not only was she closer to her children and grandchildren, but she met some of the most wonderful people who became her closest friends. They introduced her to one of her favorite activities, Pickleball. She was the self proclaimed “Pickleball Queen”.
Laureen was full of love and life. She would do anything for anyone. She fought so hard for her children, family, friends, and most of all, her grandchildren. There is nothing she wouldn’t have done for them. Anyone who was lucky enough to have her in their life is going to miss her. Thankfully, she left behind many memories for everyone to cherish.

You were truly a blessing from God. You guided me back to church and helped lift me from my deepest depression. I will be forever grateful for you. You will always be a part of my testimony. You’ve left me with the quite the task of sharing what you taught me.
I will miss attending church with you, our walks, and the unannounced visits with Cocoa. Most of all, I will miss our laughter together. Until the very end, your sense of humor shone through and will always remind me of your beautiful soul.
You were always a bright light to those around you, with a magnetic personality that drew people in. You, my friend, were truly lovable. You are a true inspiration. Your love of life, positivity, and compassion touched everyone. Your love for your family was heartfelt and genuine. God truly created an all-around beautiful person.
My heart aches, but I find comfort knowing you are with Jesus. You promised to haunt me, and I’m ready for it! I love you and miss you beyond words.
Until we meet again,
Judy

Goodbye my friend.

Always fun playing pickleball with you.
Lunch was even better. Rest in peace..
She was somehow fun to be around
Will remember her always. We shared a few short years as friends but they were memorable. Such a fun person. Will miss her always.
The smile, the laugh. When Laureen was in the room, the fun began. I have never known a more genuine person. She had fun. She had strength. She had faith. I never heard a bad word spoken by her. She believed everyone was good. She lived every minute of her life believing good was the way to go. She was a gift to so many. Always offering her hand. This world has lost a very special person. Knowing we all have a new angel will have to be enough. Until we meet again, rest in peace “Reene”, you will be missed more than you will ever know. 💔
May you rest in peace. ❤️
