Born in: Brooklyn, New York
Resided in: Smithtown, New York

Louis Charles Kron was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 27, 1946. He attended St. John’s Preparatory School as a child and later was in the US Navy and attended the College of Insurance. He would go on to start his own insurance business, Kron Associates, and purchase the eponymous Kron Building in East Northport, where he would run his various businesses. Many people will remember him as the host of Madison Steak House in Hauppauge, which he owned for almost twenty years. The restaurant frequently presented oldies shows, including such bands as the Brooklyn Bridge and Risky Business. As a philanthropist, he ran annual Christmas fundraisers at Madison’s for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. In addition, he also helped raise funding for Hope House Ministries and the League of Yes. Lou’s favorite hobby was fishing and crabbing on his boats, the Little Jack and Mr. D.J., and he loved going down to Marathon Key to spend time fishing with his grandson, Jack. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed being a D.J. and playing the drums, as music was a life-long passion of his. His is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette, his daughters, Michele and Denise, his sons-in-law, Rich and Marc, and his three grandchildren, Jack, Sienna, and Nicholas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

  6. It was one of the best “jobs” I ever had – playing at Madison’s twice a month for a dozen years. Great crowd, great atmosphere and it was Lou that made it happen. Thank you Lou, for all the wonderful memories. I will treasure them.
Your favorite bass player in Risky Business,

  8. I will never forget all the Christmas Eves he hosted and how much time and effort he did for all of his grandkids and family members. he went above and beyond to make Christmas even more special then it already is . He will be truly missed every day and especially on Christmas Eve. May he rest in peace. Love you uncle Lou !! Catch some big fish

  9. candleThank you Lou, for welcoming me into the Risky Business world of Madison’s. Thank you for the support and encouragement you showed me for many years. I was grateful and honored when, over the years, you asked me to entertain your guests at your private parties. Your faith and confidence in me strengthened me and helped me grow as a person and performer. I only wish I could have given back as much as you had given me. I will miss you.

  10. Because of you great music was kept alive and brought people together at Madison’s singing, dancing, laughing, enjoying life. Thank you for that. Your smile was always welcoming and people loved to be around you. It was an honor to sing with Frankie at Madison’s and follow other performers whose talent might otherwise go unrecognized. My condolences to the family and community of friends who will surely miss you. Rest In Peace

  11. candleWe will always remember Lou, once you met him you would not forget him. EVERYONE missed Madison’s and still talk about the many enjoyable evenings and LOU’S generosity as a great host. Thank you for all the fresh fish you sent us all cleaned and ready for a delicious meal.

  12. To a man that worked hard to please so many people at his wonderful restaurant and a very dear friend who I have know fo many years and also made my corporate parties special when he would DJ he was also a very smart business man

  13. During my early youth, Lou was one of my best friends. He and I had a passion for fishing, and we went on some great trips together. Perhaps the best was on August 15, 1960. We had to earn $10 each to pay for the fare on Captain Carl Forsberg’s iconic fishing boat, the Viking Star, on Montauk Point. We earned the money by washing cars and cleaning gardens. We were rewarded with a great trip, on which we each caught cod over 20 pounds.
Lou lived right across the street from me in Glendale, Queens. He would stop over unannounced, sometimes to see me but more often to visit my bachelor uncles, who lived on the first floor of our two-family rowhouse. My uncle Emil taught Lou how to play the drums, and all three of my uncles played pinochle with him.. They called him, “Pinocle Lou”.
Lou was always a go-getter, even as a young boy. We had annual fundraisers in our Catholic elementary school…such as selling magazine subscriptions, and Lou was usually the biggest money raiser in his class. It was certainly a sign of things to come.
After high school Lou and I went our separate ways for many years. I am very happy that we reunited in the last ten years of his life.

  14. Tom and Jude Fezza

We remember the very early days of dating, watching “Love Story” with the girls and goofing!! Marriage followed along with
babies, new homes and settling down. Fun didn’t end there…New Year’s parties and trips to Bavarian Manor and more parties!
Camping was Lou’s next big idea, so off to Willowemoc, and stuffing 4 adults and 4 kids in a camper…”too funny” and such a
good time! Time and responsibilities unfortunately stepped in the way, but these memories of EARLY GOOD TIMES cannot
be removed from the psyche! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED LOU! REST IN THE PEACE AND LOVE OF GOD.

  15. candleDeepest condolences to Jeanette and your family. I had such wonderful times at Madison’s dancing to favorite band Risky Business. Thank you so much, Lou for providing a great place to eat, dance and drink. So many good memories. May you forever R.I.P.

  17.
