Guestbook

  1. Marge knew the importance of community, historical preservation, and truly was a person that cared for her neighbors. I was lucky to know her since early childhood and be supported by her in many ways- sharing holidays together, engaging conversations if we saw each other at the grocery store, and when asked, she was gracious enough to wait with me at the bus stop in the morning when my parents were out of town. I can also tell what type of person she was by the way her children turned out- my sister and I were always treated well and taken care of by them. Marge was always someone who provided safety and comfort to people, as well as a warm smile. Her kindness will resonate with me for a long time. I chose a red candle as the deep cherry color will forever remind me of the lovely Americana interior design of the family home. I loved looking at the fun antique items and knickknacks in the home-as a kid they were so interesting to look at. Being around her and her family introduced me to American history in an interactive way- seeing the vintage toys and historical items around their house was fascinating. Of course Marge could say what everything was used for and how old it was! She was generous in sharing her knowledge and passions. Plus, she was so kind to children and knew how to speak to them in a caring and educational way. Thinking of her amazing, thoughtful family and wishing you all the same kind of comfort Marge provided when I was growing up.

  2. candleMarge was the most caring, kind and thoughtful neighbor a person could hope for. I cherish memories of many Fourth of July gatherings where she and the family shared generous hospitality with our family, and the many “roadside” conversations we shared in the course of daily comings and goings. Her love of history inspired my daughters and to be sure, the whole community. Our sympathy and prayers go to all of her family. May her memory be for a blessing.

  3. Marge was such a lovely, kind soul. It was sheer joy to have her as a neighbor growing up; some of my cornerstone childhood memories are of Marge demonstrating how to make Colonial-era candles at the Historical Society and her wonderful annual 4th of July gatherings. My deepest sympathies to all her family for their loss.

  4. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. We will never forget the good times and great memories made. Margie was a wonderful, lovely person, we will miss her dearly.

  5. Thank you Margie for being a great mentor and coworker at Smithtown Historical Society.
You will truly be missed. My deepest sympathies to your family. .
