Born in: Bronx, NY
Resided in: Ronkonkoma, NY

Marie Ann Crowley, loving wife and mother passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Born an only child to proud Irish Immigrants Thomas and Nora Organ on August 30, 1941, in the Bronx, New York.

Marie loved her Irish heritage growing up in the Bronx. Couches and chairs would be moved aside in their tiny apartment to make way for a dance floor where Irish music continuously played. As a teenager, she enjoyed going to dances with her close friends, where her love for parties, music and dance began in her Bronx Irish community. This is also where Marie met and married the love of her life Michael Crowley in 1963. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this month.

Marie and her family moved out to Long Island where she had a very close group of friends that gathered for card party nights and many other celebrations. With her family and friends, she enjoyed summers in the Catskills in East Durham, listening and dancing to Irish music, and singing to Doo Wop .

When it comes to her family, Marie had no “favorites” everyone was loved equally. Marie’s greatest joy were her grandchildren, never missing a performance, competition or celebration. Her Grandchildren cherished her as much as she cherished them.

Marie was the devoted wife of Mike (predeceased 2019); Mother of Michael Crowley, Noreen Mills (Steve), Thomas Crowley (Kathleen), Patrick Crowley (Lisa) and Kathleen O’Connor (Sean); Loving Nana and Nanny to Sean, Grace, Stephen, Christen, Claire, Liam, Michael and Braden. Aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews. Although an only child, Marie considered her cousins as close siblings. Marie was a homemaker, caregiver and is remembered for her smile, her laughter and having a kind, generous heart to all she came across. Rest in peace sweet Marie with your beloved Husband Mike, Mother, Father and all your loved ones dancing and singing in heaven.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Marie. I have only the fondest memories of spending many summers and holidays with Aunt Marie listening and laughing to her stories and hearing about her ‘shinanigans’ with Aunt Lydia and Aunt Patsy. Uncle Mike and Aunt Marie were always so warm and happy and we will miss her.
I am sorry we won’t make the funeral but you are all in our thoughts. Please don’t be strangers – there is always a bed in Ireland for you!
