Mario Mauro, husband to wife of 60 years Judy, father to Paul, Mary, and Joseph. Father-in-law to Joan, Ed, and Ruth. Grandpa to Erin, Sara Ann, Michael, and Fiona. Devoted son to Paul and Giovanna and brother to Rita, Marie, Anna, Cosmo, and Dominic. Beloved brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to so many. Former U.S. Army and New York City Transit Police. A life defined by love of family and service to country. Integrity, duty, warmth. And without question: a one-of-a-kind character, who left us on Memorial Day weekend. “From the graves of patriot men and women spring living nations.”

The members of the NYC Retired Transit Police Officers Association extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the Mauro family on the loss of Mario. His fellow Transit Police Officers who knew and worked with Mario will miss him.
Goodbye old friend. You were a great soldier, police officer, and loving family man. A loyal friend of 55 years! You had a life well lived and will be deeply missed by those of us who knew and loved you. Rest In Peace.

Our family has lost a major pillar but we will always remember the advice, jokes and friendship Mario provided. I will forever cherish the time and attention he gave me. Thoughts and prayers go out to Aunt Judy and the entire family at this difficult time.
