Mario S Melito Jr
September 15, 1932 ~ August 22, 2026
Born in:
Brooklyn , New York
Resided in:
Smithtown, New York
We take this moment to celebrate the life of Mario Silvio Melito, Jr. Growing up in the Gravesend of Brooklyn, he made the migration with his parents and six brothers and sisters to the then country-like community of Hicksville (with summers in Sayville). He served proudly with the 2nd mortar battalion during the Korean war and returned to civilian life as a mechanic. He married the love of his life, Alberta. Their first child, Cynthia, died shortly after birth. Together they raised two children, Jacqueline (Delpriore) and Mario (the 3rd). Moving a few times over the course of their almost 60 years of marriage, they settled in Smithtown in an idyllic setting where in addition to his lifelong hobby of restoring old cars, he to the amusement of others, decided it was his job to feed every wild animal within 20 miles. His passions included singing, playing the mandolin, cooking and of course his granddaughter Kyrstin. He is survived by his children and granddaughter, and many loving nieces and nephews.
