Born in:
New York, New York
Resided in:
Lake Grove, New York
Mark W. Antman, 75, a devoted educator and resident of Lake Grove, NY, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife Janice by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 28, 1949, in Manhattan, NY to Lester and Charlotte (Rosenzweig) Antman, Mark grew up in Commack, NY and graduated from Commack High School in 1968. He earned a Master’s Degree in Education from CW Post in 1973 and dedicated his career to special education in the Commack school district. After retiring in 2009, Mark continued to educate as a substitute teacher until February 2024. Mark will be remembered as a dedicated teacher who greeted students and colleagues each morning with a cheerful “Good Yawning.” His passion was making a difference in his students’ lives, guiding them with compassion and encouraging those who were struggling. He often said he was their Jiminy Cricket.
He is survived by his loving wife Janice (Sena) Antman; son Dougles Antman and wife Kari of Oceanside, NY; daughter Andrea Antman McCann and husband Todd of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Brady, Gwenyth, Kelsey, and Charlotte; and brothers Robert and Richard Antman. When not at school, Mark’s other joy was gardening – planting and maintaining his yard, happy to dig in the dirt. He will be deeply missed.

I am so sorry to hear this. Jan and I went to school together and went on vacation together for spring break in 1971 to Daytona Beach. I always knew Mark and Jan would be married and happy forever. My thoughts and prayers are with Jan and the family.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jan, their children Andrea & Douglas and his grandchildren. I know he will be missed, but I also know that the love that surrounded him during his illness and the memories of his love and devotion to all of you will bring you through the dark days.
