May our first cousin MaryJo rest in peace. Deepest sympathy from Elsie and Carmel Uniacke, Limerick, Ireland
What a fabulous person Mary-Jo was, strong, courageous, loving and kind. She was charismatic, interesting, interested in life, a great champion of her family, her extended family and her friends.
I know from the way all my uncles and aunts spoke about her that she was special. It helped to be the daughter of my mother’s (and all her sister’s) favorite brother, John and his much-adored wife Molly.
Mary-Jo was a person you sought out at family gatherings, you responded to her emails promptly and you were always interested in what she had to say. Of course, it was not just Mary-Jo, it was Mary-jo and Lou. What a great shared life they had. Lou was her hero and he proved that right up to the end of her life.
While we in the extended family will miss her dearly, her nieces Kristen, Molly and Meghan have lost a great friend and confidant. I met them all in New York on one occasion with Mary-Jo and one could see the ease with which they all engaged and the love that existed between them.
John, Bernie and Michael, your sister was special and her qualities will live on through her children, Meredith, Kathy and Rob and her grand-children, Jedd, Christina, Matthew, Lindsay, Kevin and Shawn.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.
To Lou our sincere sympathy, I know you will find strength in the great memories you made with Mary-Jo and through your children and grand-children.
Mary-Jo Re – a life well spent.
Mary Jo was an example to all as to how to live life, embracing new challenges and living life to the full. It was with great sadness we heard the news of her illness last year and can only admire her resilience and outlook that carried her through.
We always considered Mary-Jo the matriarch of the US Geary family for the way she ensured that when somebody visited from Ireland, she gathered family members together to meet up and connect. We’ll never forget her kindness and hospitality to Niall, MairĂ©ad and Orlaith and will cherish those memories visiting on Long Island.   Â
Â
Sincere condolences to Lou, Meredith, Kathy and Rob,  to Mary-Jo’s beloved grandchildren,  to her siblings, John, Bernie and Michael and to the extended Geary and Re families who will miss Mary-Jo terribly.

There are few words to describe the impact Mary Jo has had on so many lives: family, students, parents of those students, friends, communities– a constellation of bright moments over time and space.
The pictures resonate with light and love and vitality.
To Louis and children and grands — you are her universe in which she spun and found her center.
I am grateful for time spent. Never enough. Still grateful

The entire Dowse clan is deeply saddened by the loss of Mary Jo Re or Mama Re for all of the kids that grew up in the neighborhood. She was always the “June Cleaver” of the neighborhood, you just could not be in a bad mood if Mama Re was around. Always so warm and welcoming.
Words will never be ample enough to make the loss any easier; however you all had a bright light in your lives that shines through all of you.
Sincere condolences to Lou, Rob, Kathy and Meredith and extended families .
Mary Jo will be a big loss to you all and will be fondly remembered on this side of the Atlantic also

I met MaryJo at our watercolor group in Port Jefferson. She was a talented artist, but in addition MaryJo was a wonderful person. Always friendly, always cheerful and always welcoming. I am honored to have known her.
