March 26, 1937 ~ July 22, 2023

Born in: Queens, NY
Resided in: Smithtown, NY

Mary L. Bonta, got her wings on Saturday, July 22, 2023 and joined her husband George (Andy) in heaven. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Nancy Bonta Evans ( David Evans), Richard Bonta ( Donna Waag Bonta) and Catherine Bonta-Roskos (Robert Roskos). She is also survived by four grandchildren: Joshua Voitko ( and his father Steve- her “other son”), Christian Bonta, Tiana Bonta and James Roskos. She also leaves her loving sisters and brothers: Louise Gilbert , Clara Rolleri and Anthony Bracchi. Mary was beloved by all who knew her, she always “adopted” and took care of other people in her time, usually elderly. She loved animals throughout her life. Mary’s home always had rescued cats and dogs, and she helped with TNR and spaying feral cats in her area. She also had a special affection for elephants. She loved music, feeding people, and keeping busy! She was beyond devoted to our family, and generous to all. She was beautiful, classy, funny, smart and compassionate. There are no words to say how dearly she will be missed by her family and friends.

Having now had the pleasure to get to know you and to see the love and care that you take into all of your relationships, I can only imagine what a wonderful woman your mother was. I wish we could have had the opportunity to know her.

  4. I always enjoyed when Mary came into the elementary school to pick up her grandson. Always a smile and pleasant conversation.
