Matthew J Cvrlje 90, Died peacefully, amongst his loving Family on June 12, 2021 at home. He was born July 19th 1930, in New York City, the son of Mihovil and Josephine Simonovich.
Matthew Graduated from Chelsea Vocational High School, class of 1948. Following graduation, he served with the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After the war, He Married Margaret (Chickie) Dropp in 1956, and they settled in Sunnyside, Queens N.Y. They Recently celebrated 65 years of Marriage in January of 2021.He spent his entire 40 plus year career working for the NY MTA.
In Addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two incredible sisters, Rosie and Anna. Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret (Chickie), are his son Michael and Partner Dee: Daughters Joanne and her Partner Anthony, Peggy and her Husband Gary, Trish and her Partner Jimmy; Nine Grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Jenna, Michael, Maria, Steven, Ryan, Devan & Dylan: Five Great Grandchildren, Brielle, Baylie, Gianna, Gabriella & Serena.
A wake service will be held Wednesday June 16th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm @ Branch Funeral Home, 190 East Main Street, Smithtown NY 11787. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 18th @ St Louis de Montfort RC Church @ 11:30 AM.

  8. I am so sorry about the passing of Mr. Cvrlje. I have so many fond memories of hanging out at your home with Tricia listening to Boz Scaggs and snacking on Stella D’oro Margherite Cookies. I always felt like I was home and was always welcomed to visit at any time. Rest In Peace Mr. Cvrlje until your family is reunited with you again.
