Michael Mirabella
June 11, 1938 ~ February 11, 2026
Michael Mirabella was born in Harlem NY on June 11, 1938.
He had a modest upbringing in the projects of Clason Point in the Bronx. It was there that he first met Evelyn, the love of his life. They would remain married for 64 years.
They had 4 children, 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mike’s first real job was as a printer, printing foreign currency. He then took the test and became a New York City Firefighter. He was also a printer and carpenter as a second job.
After several moves in the city, Mike and Evelyn bought their first home in Levittown, the first of 8 homes they would own. Mike’s brother in law’s would joke that he was beautifying Long Island one house at a time.
After years as a firefighter Mike got his Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science at John Jay College. With this degree Mike would go on to become a Lieutenant in the FDNY.
Unfortunately as a probationary Lieutenant Mike sustained a career ending injury which forced a retirement at age 36.
After this Mike had several careers including real estate agent, fire equipment salesman and life insurance salesman for the Knights of Columbus. Mike finally retired for good and he and Evelyn traveled the world together.
Mike was also an amazing artist. He painted gorgeous paintings for most of his adult life. In the last few years he painted a work for each of the grandchildren.
So in his lifetime Mike was a Firefighter, printer, carpenter and salesman. He built, bought and sold many homes and countless cars.
But his greatest achievement was being an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
