Born in: Como, Italy
Resided in: Coram, New York

It is with a heavy heart that my family has to announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Nonno. He was a hard working man, passionate and full of life and love. He came to America in 1971 and fell in love with this country, made it his home, put himself through college and started a family. Several years later he fulfilled his life dream and opened up his own restaurant and successfully ran it for 30 years before retiring in 2017. Those who knew Orlando know his love of food, wine and music. He was fillled with creativity and enjoyed making people feel welcomed with his undeniable charm, impish grin and sarcastic sense of humor.

But his devotion to his business comes a distant second to his love for his family and friends. Our family is blessed with countless memories, funny stories and warm bear hugs. Whether it was fishing trips, traveling to Europe, giving cooking lessons, playing guitar, taking dancing lessons or just sitting around the table eating delicious food and talking about his life experiences, Orlando left an indelible imprint on our heart. He made us laugh with his funny idiosyncrasies and interpretation of the English language and sometimes intimidated the heck out of us and our friends with his vice grip handshake and back cracking slap on the shoulder.

Dear Dad/Nonno – You always said we were your angels and I know you couldn’t be more proud of your children and grandchildren. We would do anything to see you again and tell you how much we love you and what you meant to us.

Now you are our angel, looking after us as we try to pick up the pieces, move forward and honor the life you led and love you gave. Our hearts are broken but we will find comfort knowing that we will see you again and you will tip our head down and look at us over your glasses and say “Look whose here” with a wink and curious smile. We LOVE you. Always and forever. XO
