Dear Bruer family,
My sister, Tracy, expressed our heartbreak very well in her sentiments below. I am so shaken by the news of Pat’s untimely passing and I give thanks to the Lord that my husband, children and I dropped in “out of the blue” last November on a trip from Virginia just to see if Pat and Rick were home. We were so excited to see Dana also during that stop. I posted some pictures from that visit.
I love Pat as a second Mother, and truly she was exactly that to my sisters and I when we were young. I spent my days playing in her neighborhood, eating at her table, and seeing her children as my sisters and brothers. The camper in the yard was our playground and a place where we made many memories as families on the beaches of Long Island. Although, I still could do without the memories of the camping potty! Such great fun we all had! Most of all, Pat was a dear and trusted friend to my late Mother. She supported her and loved her and was a lifelong friend. My sisters and I lost our Mom last July and we know all too well the pain of letting go of someone you love so dearly. Please know that you have gained a guardian angel in heaven and that she is always, always with you. Rick, my heart goes out to you for losing your best friend. May the Lord comfort and keep you all during this time of grief.
I will keep you all in my prayers.
With much love,
Heather
I’m shocked and very sad at the news. Pat and my Mom were life-long friends and Pat was life a second mother to me and my sisters. I have so many fond memories of spending time with the Bruer family growing up on long island. My heart goes out to them right now. I will never forget Pat’s kindness and giving spirit. Love always, Tracy

It seems there’s very little anyone can say or do To ease the loss of one who meant so very much to you, But may you find some comfort in the sorrow that you bear, Just knowing there are many hearts that understand and care. My Deepest condolences.
