Patrick “Joe” Pender, of Calverton, NY, passed away suddenly on March 22, 2026.
Born in Tiermaclane, Co. Clare Ireland on March 23, 1934. He immigrated to New York in 1955. Joe proudly served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. Joe joined the FDNY in 1962 and bravely served for 33 years achieving the rank of Deputy Chief.
Throughout his life Joe loved the game of golf as a player and a fan. He was a former member of the Shamrock Club and the Round Swampers. He loved playing golf with friends and family.
Joe shared his love for Irish music and dance with his family. Listening to Irish tunes, driving to dance class and traveling around the world to cheer on his children and grandchildren.
He was a big and loyal sports fan of the NY Islanders, Mets and Jets. His love of American sports all started as an usher at Shea.
He and Marge loved to travel and enjoyed seeing the world together. Traveling to Ireland and Nova Scotia and cruising to far off destinations.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marge (Waidson) Pender; children Corinne(Tim) Murphy, Tara(Dave) Thomas and Erin(Chris) LeVine and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Tom Pender, of Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Annie Spellissy, Cattie Nagle and Mae Pender.
