Phyllis Theresa Grosso was born on February 4, 1947. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025 at Good shepherd hospice in Port Jefferson. She is survived by her loyally devoted husband of over 54 years Tony, her son Anthony and his wife Colette, her daughter Lisa, and her four granddaughters she loved ‘to the moon and back” Sara Nadia Lila and Isabelle . She is also survived by her two brothers Joseph LaSalla and Thomas LaSalla, along with 4 nephews, 1 niece, and 5 great nieces & nephews.
Phyllis met her husband Tony when they were both 19 years old, while he was home from the US Navy on a weekend pass in New York City. They soon fell in love and married in 1970. Two children came in the next two years. Phyllis blossomed into motherhood and was a loving and devoted wife.
Phyllis loved to cook and bake. She was known for her meatballs and delicious cookies. She was a wonderful hostess and loved to cook for her whole family every Sunday. Her family cherishes all the beautiful memories made at the Sunday dinners she lovingly served for many years. She showed her love through cooking and entertaining. Phyllis was so crafty and loved to make beautiful gifts for everyone.
Phyllis and her husband Tony devoted themselves to service at Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Selden for many years. Phyllis taught catechism to prepare children for first communion, including her own kids. Phyllis and Tony dedicated themselves to facilitate pre-Cana in their home for over 10 years. Faith and family were her primary focus, always. She was a beautiful, smart, funny, loving woman, who will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
Phyllis survived multiple strokes and beat breast cancer twice in the past 15 years. Unfortunately she succumbed to the vascular dementia that developed from the strokes she suffered. Her family and friends stood loyally by her side this past year to ensure her care and comfort and transition to a peaceful afterlife.
Please join us in our celebration of her beautiful life. Details as follows on this website.
