Richard Gerard McCrossen
April 28th, 1933- November 24th, 2022
Richard Gerard McCrossen, formerly of Whitehall, Maryland and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, peacefully passed away on Thanksgiving morning, November 24th, at the age of 89. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Gertrude and Edward McCrossen and was brother to the late Edward McCrossen and Hellen Gallagher. His wife, Noreen, preceded him in death. Richard proudly served in the Korean War as an Army Ranger. After serving, Richard was a long time executive and president of Citibank, Sioux Falls, South Dakota which enabled him to travel the world. A lover of animals and the oudoors, Richard loved to travel and in his retired years, loved spending time on his ranch raising, taking care of and racing horses. He was always known to tell incredible stories of his journeys, a quick joke and sing classic songs. Richard is survived by his children, son Richard and his wife Mary Ellen, as well as his Grandchildren, Kerry, Kasey, Matthew, and Erin. He is deeply loved and will be incredibly missed. Until we meet again, may God hold him in the Palm of His hand.

  1. My deepest condolences on the loss of Richard (Dick). My prayers go out to his son, Richard and his family. I first met Richard (Dick) in 1970 at Pepsico in Purchase, NY. , where he hired me to manage the data center. In 1973 I left Pepsico to join Richard at First National City Bank on Wall Street where we embarked on exciting journey at Citibank that lasted 27 years and included my living and working for him in New York, Colorado, South Dakota, Nevada, Maryland, and New Jersey. From the start Richard (Dick) became my mentor and helped me immensely developmentally. In 1979 both he and his wife Noreen attended my wedding to my wife Mary in Long Island, NY. It is with enormous honor and pride to have worked for Richard throughout this magnificent journey together. He was not only my manager, he was my good and special friend and I loved and admired him with all my heart. Until we meet again, your friend, John McCrossan
