Rita Behre

Rita Behre, 82, died at Mount Sinai West Hospital on April 21, 2020 in New York City. She was the loving mother of John Behre (Michael Danchise) of New York, New York, and Bill Behre (Leah Ingram) of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. She had two granddaughters, Jane, 24, and Annie, 22, whom she loved very much. She was also fond of her grand-dogs Oscar and Sadie. Rita was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Colarullo, and her parents, Orientina and Pasquale Colarullo. Since 2014 Rita had been living at VillageCare at 46 & Ten, an assisted living facility on Manhattan's West Side. She loved her daily activities, which included creative writing, art therapy and music. She also enjoyed field trips to local cultural and historical attractions. Her fellow residents had voted her to be a member of the resident council. Rita spent the lion's share of her life on Long Island, in Smithtown, New York, where she raised her sons. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Valley Stream, New York. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to the Rita Behre Memorial Fund at VillageCare.
