Rose Olivo

Rose Olivo, age 101, of Coral Springs, Florida died Thursday, August 22, 2013. Rose was born March 6, 1912 in Italy. She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Concetta (Maniscalco) Virzi. She left school at an early age to work as a seamstress, as was standard in the early 1900's. After she immigrated to the United States, she spent a number of years in New York with her husband and son, both named Joseph. She was preceded by her husband in 1976 and after his passing she moved to Florida. Rose is survived by her children, Nancy, Joseph and Rosalie; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1976 and her son, Sal, in 2005. There will be private viewing hours in Florida and then Rose will be transferred home to Long Island where the family will receive friends at the Rocky Point Funeral Home 603 Route 25A Rocky Point, NY on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Rocky Point at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. .
