Guestbook

  1. The Schneider family, Jay, Diane, Rachel and Adam, wishes to express our sincere condolences on the passing of our dear friend Selma Plotkin. We (Diane and Jay) first met Selma around 1984-85. Jay was doing some work at a laboratory at the West Los Angeles V.A. Hospital and mentioned to Diane that one of the technicians in the lab (Selma) looked familiar to him. Some days later, Jay and Selma encountered each other at the mailboxes in the apartment building where we both lived. Jay and Selma looked at each other and realized that they had seen each other in the lab and now also realized that they also lived in the same apartment complex. Not only that, Selma lived upstairs and diagonally across from our apartment. This chance encountered developed into a wonderful friendship that lasted over 35 years. When our first child, Rachel was born, Selma was ecstatic, fell in love with our baby girl, and, has been a part of her life ever since, serving as sort of an honorary grandma. We left L.A. in 1988 but Diane spoke regularly with Selma, we shared photos of Rachel and of our son Adam after he was born, and kept Selma well updated as to their doings and accomplishments. The kids could always count on a birthday cards and Hanukah wishes from Selma and she always took pride in and celebrated their accomplishments. We all looked forward to spending time with her when she stayed with us on her visits to the East Coast and were relieved when she finally decided to move back East to be closer to her family. We will always have a warm place in our hearts for our dear friend Selma and will remember her fondly. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time and we hope that the knowledge that Selma was loved and will be missed is of some comfort.

    • What a wonderful testament to Selma & her wonderful relationship with you & your family. I’ve heard such fabulous stories from Selma talking & laughing about your family and even though we never met, I know how special you all were to her. She lived a wonderful life & I know she loved you like family, so thanks to you all. With love Karen & Howie

  2. Our deepest condolences to Selma’s family. She was a lovely client every 6 weeks, an inspiration to us all.
