Born in: Huntington, NY
Resided in: Rocky Point, NY

Steven Jay Reis was born on February 13, 1960, in Huntington, New York. He was a devoted husband of 36 years to his wife, Patti, and a loving father to his only daughter, Allison. He was also a proud father-in-law to Michael, a role he embraced with warmth and loyalty.

Steve loved golf, traveling, poker, and baseball, and he had a lifelong love-hate relationship with the NY Giants that was well known to anyone who watched a game with him. A passionate and competitive fan, he was especially proud to be the 2025 Fantasy Baseball Champion, a title he earned with skill, dedication, and no shortage of good-natured bragging rights.

Steady and genuine, Steve was deeply devoted to his family, and his presence brought comfort and consistency to those around him. Beyond his family, he was a great friend to many and a respected colleague at Credit Suisse, where he was valued for both his professionalism and his character.

Steve is survived by his sister, Carol; his mother-in-law, Gladys, and father-in-law, Thomas; his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Thomas, Frances and her husband Neal, June and her husband Timothy, Jean, and Joseph; and his many loving nieces and nephews.

  3. Very sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. He was such a good-natured and hard-working man at Credit Suisse who spoke with pride about his family. He was kind and trust-worthy, and such a good soul. May he rest in peace.

  4. Steve was a truly wonderful man; he was my CS mentor and a dear friend, and I will always remember fond memories of our time as colleagues at CS; my deepest condolences to his family and friends, rest easy Steve

  5. I first met Steve through my husband Jim.. Steve met Patti through Jim and I. We went on vacation with them to Lake George . We always had a great time. They were both there for me when my husband passed away. I lost touch with them all my doing but I am devastated to hear this news . He was one of the easiest young men I had ever met. I am so very sorry to hear this news.My thoughts and prayers are with Patti and Allison at this time .

  6. When Steve told me about his diagnosis, the first thing he said was that he wasn’t keeping it a secret — he just didn’t want to saddle people with sad news. That sums him up perfectly. Always modest, level-headed, and practical. I can’t recall him ever losing his temper at work. He simply carried on without a fuss.
I’ll miss geeking out with you over the latest TV tech and audio settings, Steve. The good ones always leave too soon. Rest in peace.
My heartfelt condolences to Patti and Allison — though we never met, Steve spoke about you often, and that said everything.

  7. Sincere condolences to the Reís family. I had the privilege of working with Steve and always admired his work ethic and commitment to his team. He always lit up when he spoke of his family. May you continue to find ways to celebrate his life.

  8. In Loving Memory of My Brother

You were my older brother, and I always looked up to you. When I was young, you took me out to see bands at the bars — Twisted Sister and Zebra — and let me hang out with you and your friends. You always made sure I was okay.

We shared good years — living close, going out together, spending time on the boat, and raising our girls. The bowling league was mostly about fun, and as always, you were the best at every sport you played.

Later, we went through some of the hardest years together. When Mom was in hospice and Dad became sick, you took on so much — handling his paperwork, finances, insurance, selling the house, and finding assisted living for dad. It was a lot. You carried it all while pushing through your own pain, never complaining, never slowing down — even when that pain turned out to be cancer.

You were steady, protective, and always there when it mattered.

You were the last in my family, and losing you has left a space that cannot be filled.
    I will always love you.

  9. Steve always brought the fun. Summer vacations in Lake George were magical. Neal always enjoyed golfing with Steve. We hold tight to every happy memory. We all feel the loss in our family. Patti, Allie and Mike, we are here for you forever because the three of you were his whole world. Rest in peace Steve.

  10. Steve was a wonderful leader, mentor, and friend. I had the privilege of working with him at CS, early in my career, where he patiently shared his knowledge of futures and prime brokerage negotiations, along with so many other lessons. He was kind, generous with his time, and always approachable. As my career progressed, Steve was incredibly supportive of my growth and remained a steady source of guidance and encouragement. Over time, he became not only a mentor but a dear friend.

Even in the face of his diagnosis, Steve remained positive and steady, always meeting life with grace and optimism. His deep love for his family and his strong work ethic were truly inspiring. I will always cherish the memories of our lunches, shared stories, and conversations about vacations, horror movies, slot machines, his boat, and his beloved Patti, Allie, and the dogs.

Thank you, Steve, for being such a dear friend and an instrumental part of my career journey. I am grateful to have known you. You will be truly missed. My sincere condolences are with Patti, Allie, and the entire family.

  11. Steve was a kind and generous man and a terrific friend. We had many great times hanging out together, watching sports, going for walks, watching movies, grabbing a bite at White Castle or the Good Steer, and reminiscing about how things were when we were younger. I know how much he loved Patti, Allison and Mike. Our hearts go out to them and to all who will be missing him. You were special, Steve, and you’ll be missed.

  12. candleGoodbye Steve you are one of the best friends and colleagues I’ve had from my many years practicing law. You were so good at your job and such an honorable and caring person. Thank you for taking me out on your boat and having me over to play cards with your friends. You brought warmth and happiness to so many people and made the world a better place.
