I knew tom from his first day at Microsoft. He was always a kind person a tremendous technical resource. I will always remember how much he loved what he did and always cared deeply about providing people with his best. I saw him again soon after he left Microsoft and he was so kind and gracious with me. I know this is a tremendous loss for his family and he will be always missed by his friends at Microsoft.

Wish I had got to know you better. Best part of coming by when you were there was cracking a corny joke to get you to smile. Always made my day. I will never forget that smile. Gone way too soon and for that we are all the lesser. Rest in peace friend.

I had the chance to meet Thomas once and it was a memorable experience. He accompanied my friend, Catherine, to the Bristol Ren Faire and I remember that he wanted to find a crown like the one Catherine was wearing (king to her queen, perhaps? :P) It was clear to me that Thomas was a loving man and cared for Catherine deeply. I light this candle to honor his memory and hope he has found peace in the after life.

I am a close childhood friend of Tom’s beloved sweetheart, Catherine. I had the pleasure of meeting Tom when he and Cathy were first dating and really got to know him well over the past two years. I traveled to Houston, Texas last October with Cathy and Tom to attend the Renaissance Fair for the long weekend. We had a blast and Tom really embraced new experiences. I had the pleasure of meeting young Tommy and going to see the movie, Thor, with Cathy, Tom and Tommy. I was very impressed how well-mannered Tom’s young boy is and saw how much Tom loved his son. I spent this past Christmas Day with Tom and Cathy and just loved being with them. I remember thinking to myself that I really looked forward to spending many more holidays with them. Tom fondly referred to me as ‘the most boring person in the world’. I will truly miss his jokes and texts reminding me of this personality trait. Just last week, he texted me a joke to which I laughed. And, he responded…’see, a boring joke works for you.’ Tom, you were a kind man, doting father, who had found his soulmate, and you will be truly missed.
We are so saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. Such a dear man, so uniquely full of life and energy. We were just getting to know him through his lovely life partner, Cathy, and were looking forward to so much more of the joy and intelligence that he radiated. We so enjoyed playing music with him at last summer’s party and we had looked forward to many more such occasions. Cathy, we are so sorry for your loss.
Dear Tom and Cathy, I only met you once as a couple, but the deep love and connection you shared was so strikingly obvious, it was truly glorious to witness. That kind of love is so rare and you both are so lucky to have found it in this life. Clearly the joyous nuptials were just a matter of time, but now that love has been captured in time for all eternity. When I met Tom, I liked him immediately and thought, oh yes, I could work with this guy, birds of a feather as they say. But actually I was really looking forward to getting to know you both as close friends, beyond colleagues. Tom’s quick wit, hearty laugh, and penchant for my irreverent topics, will always bring a smile to my memories and a melancholy for fun times missed. What I realized with my fathers recent passing, when your heart feels so heavy with heartache, it’s really just your loved one filling up your heart because now that they are in spirit form, they can actually get inside your heart. So when your heart is heaviest, it’s just Tom getting as close to you as he possibly can, like a hug. The heavier your heart, the bigger the hug.
You are so loved and missed Tom! Not just by Cathy and your son but by so many lives you touched.

Brilliant,loving,talented, & whimsical. I thank him for his love & kindness. He was a great influence & I treasure his advice for life.He will be missed.

I heard the tragic & incredibly sad news just a few hours ago. To Tom’s brothers, children & all other loved ones, I share your heartbreak and can only hope that memories of his smile, outstanding personality & the love felt by every single person he knew will somehow bring comfort to your broken hearts. I am a distant cousin & always enjoyed my time with him……he made it easy to love him! Please keep him alive in your hearts & minds so that his children will know what a special father they had!! The only consolation I can find is that he is with his Mother & beloved Uncle Tommy & Aunt Janice. Tom, you made a positive difference in this world while you were here……Something tells me we will continue to see Tom’s positive contributions from above.
