My condolences to Jill and the Grimaldi family. Though I never worked with Tim in the Transit Police, I did work at St. Francis Hospital where Jill was a nurse and I worked in Security. May Tom rest in peace and may the Good Lord watch over the family in their time of grieving.
Sending our deepest condolences on your tremendous loss
To the Grimaldi family, my condolences on the loss of a Great man. When I was a rookie cop in TD-33 Sgt. Grimaldi always looked after me. He was a tremendous Boss , a Great leader and a fun man to be around for sure !!!! Rest Easy Sarge and Thank you for making me a better Cop. 🙏💙🙏
Tommy was a great man. I was a transit cop in D/02, maybe 1986/87, and I’m grappling with a farebeater at the 34 st / 7 ave station. Tommy was off duty, on his way to work at D/11. He really saved me that day, got the guy off me, talked him into handcuffs. Literally. Years later we worked together in D/20. My brother Vinny was with the TPD and loved him too. May Tommy rest in peace.
GODBLESS MY OLE FRIEND 🌅🌹🙏🌹🌅
From Dist 11 brother.
My condolences to Jill and the Grimaldi family. I am grateful that I was lucky enough to have seen him a couple of months ago with my brother George for lunch .He was an amazing guy had a big heart and a great sense of humor .I will cherish our last visit never laughed so hard in my life and was telling my coworkers that they would love him at our center .Everyone loved Tommy !
..Tommy was a great person a better cop and a great sgt .. Having work for him in D / 33 NYC TRANSIT in the 80’s he was exceptional individual who possessed integrity and honor . I know he will be truly missed . May God watch over him and his family .
Wow floods of memories laughter and joy! I just smile when I think of Tommy Nicky and Tommy D. Those were the days they were the funniest guys in Plainview. The jokes they played would keep us all laughing for days even years! I hope he made you smile throughout your life and may he rest in the loving arms of Jesus from here. Wishing you sincerest condolences Jill & Family Tommy will live on in everyone forever . Stay strong ♥️🙏😇🏖️
I would like to share a story about Tommy. Tommy and I were on patrol together as cops when a Precinct Sgt and driver escorted a very drunk male onto the #4 train platform. Tommy respectfully informed the Sgt that it was not the right thing to do because this guy was probably going to end up on the tracks or even worse. The Sgt instantly got nasty and tried to bully Tommy with rank. Tommy held his ground and when the Sgt escalated the situation it resulted in Tommy being acknowledged as doing the right thing. Tommy was a gentleman and a good cop. Prayers and Best Wishes to his family.
With deepest sympathy
Losing Tommy, especially so young, breaks my heart. It brings comfort to look back at the incredible, tight-knit family we shared growing up. I always looked forward those Sunday dinners on Long Island when all the cousins and my dad’s sisters would get together. Tommy’s fierce hatred of cheese was always a classic staple of those meals and a detail that still brings a warm smile to my face.
Of course nothing can ever replace those legendary Christmas Eves in our Commack basement. We would sit at that table and eat, laugh, go to church and then repeat after midnight with pizza, sausage and Santa.
Tommy was a fun-loving, great guy and the life of the party. He will be deeply missed. Jill please know that I am holding you and your family close in my heart.
With love and sympathy,
So sorry to hear the sad news of Tommy’s sudden passing. Prayers for you Jill and you family. The world is a darker place now without Tommy’s beautiful smile lighting up the area around him ! God bless !
“The memory of the righteous is a blessing.” — Proverbs 10:7
As I grew up, my memories of Tommy became deeply embedded in who I am. Although we were cousins, I always looked up to him as an older brother. I remember seeing him play the drums, and in that moment, I knew that was what I wanted to do. Tommy helped shape my musical background and gave me a love for the music of the ’60s that remains etched in my mind to this day.
Over time, Tommy became more than someone I admired; he became someone I trusted deeply. His sense of humor was above most, and he could make anyone laugh with just a facial expression. He had many friends who looked up to him, not only because he was funny, but because he was real, loyal, and always present for the people he cared about.
Some of our most meaningful moments came during the long talks we shared at my house when he would stop by. We both carried common troubles, and through those conversations, we found comfort in knowing we were not alone. Tommy understood me, and I understood him. That bond meant so much that I chose him to be my sponsor at my confirmation, and I proudly took his name, Thomas, as my confirmation name.
As life went on, Tommy became one of the people who helped keep me here. I literally owe my life to Tommy, along with my cousin Steven, my niece Kristen, and my wife, Peggy. Without those four people, I would not be here today. Tommy was my cousin, but he was also my brother, my friend, my confidant, and someone I knew I could always count on.
Tommy went on to serve proudly as an NYPD sergeant, a Port Jefferson Village constable, and a Smithtown Parks police officer. But his true legacy reaches far beyond any title. He influenced everyone who knew him. He gave laughter, strength, guidance, and loyalty. Anyone who knew Tommy knew greatness, and anyone who loved him will continue to carry his spirit forward. His life remains an inspiration, and his memory will always be a light for those of us blessed to have known him.
So today, I honor Tommy not only for the life he lived, but for the love, laughter, courage, and strength he gave so freely to others. I will carry his lessons, his music, his humor, and his name with me always. Though his absence leaves a space that can never be filled, his spirit remains woven into my life and into the lives of everyone he touched. Rest easy, Tommy. You were loved deeply, you will be missed beyond words, and you will never be forgotten.

I worked with Tommy in District 11. He was a great cop. He was very witty and had a great sense of humor. He was tough, empatheic and very smart. I learned a lot from him and I am grateful for his friendship. My condolences to his family.
