Todd R. Garland

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Todd R. Garland, who passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026 at the age of 72, surrounded by his family.

Born on October 17, 1953 in Minot, North Dakota and raised in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Todd lived a life defined by love, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loving husband to Elizabeth M. Garland (nee Brewer), a devoted father to Brittany Garland (Alexander Silva), Elizabeth Garland (Alexander Goodship), Natalie Garland (Kraig Rau), and a proud grandfather to Maeve Silva, Casey Silva, Lyla Goodship, and Blakelee Rau. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Todd was known for his unwavering devotion to his family, pride for his three daughters, sense of humor, endless wisdom, athleticism, and spontaneity. Growing up he was known for his football, baseball, and track achievements. For college, Todd attended the Air Force Academy and proudly served in the Air Force for seven years before moving to the East Coast. He enjoyed downhill skiing in Colorado, water skiing on Annabelle Lake in Northern Wisconsin, hunting and causing mischief with his brothers and friends alike throughout his life.

Todd’s greatest joy was spending time with his wife of 40 years and three daughters be it on vacation to Paris, or watching movies together on a Friday night. He loved his hunting dogs, making Dad’s Swedish pancakes for breakfast, picking out Christmas trees, and visiting his favorite towns in New England. He showed up to every soccer and softball game, and endless track meets with unwavering enthusiasm and support for his daughters. Todd was constantly thinking of new business ideas and the “next big thing,” he was never afraid to dream big.

Whether he was on the golf course with his friends, brothers or son-in-laws, or at dinner enjoying a “bloody” prime rib he was a genuine man who easily welcomed people into his heart. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and enduring resilience left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his brothers Thomas F. Garland, Jeffery S. Garland, and Timothy R. Garland. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas F. Garland and Constance M. Garland (nee Timme).

While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories that will remain with us forever. His legacy lives on in the lives of his family and friends, who will continue to honor him by living with the same humor, generosity, kindness, integrity, and love that he showed every day.

Visitations will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at The Branch Funeral Home – Miller Place from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM EST.  A funeral service will follow on Monday, August 10, 2026 at The Branch Funeral Home – Miller Place at 10:00 AM.
