Trevor Anthony Verga MD

May 23, 1976 ~ April 9, 2022
Born in:
Brooklyn, NY
Resided in:
Kings Park, NY
Dr. Trevor A. Verga, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away on April 9, 2022 at the age of 45.
The eldest child of Dr. Anthony and Barbara Holly Lawrence Verga, Trevor was born in Brooklyn on May 23, 1976. He graduated from Northport High School in 1994 where he met his future wife, Kelly Donnelly. They married on Long Island in 2004 and settled in Kings Park where they had two beautiful children, Sydney 14, and Dylan 10.
Trevor knew from a young age that he wanted to become a physician. He graduated from American University and received his medical degree from New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He served as chief medical resident and cardiology fellow at North Shore University Hospital. At Temple he studied to become an electrophysiologist. He went on to earn a remarkable five board certifications and get an MBA in his spare time.
Dr. Verga joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2010. He also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University and President of the Medical Board at St. Charles Hospital.
If you were a patient of Dr. Verga’s, your heart was in brilliant hands. If you were lucky enough to call him a friend, then you had the extraordinary blessing of knowing what was in his heart. Trevor was exceptionally humble about his many accomplishments. He was a precious combination of modesty and talent, never mentioning his own impressive achievements but always inquiring of others. Trevor’s dedication to treating his patients was surpassed only by his love of family and loyalty to friends. He was beloved for his unique sense of humor, deferential charm, and unparalleled ability to find the rational side of any matter. He relished a good debate and had an unquenchable thirst for learning. He was a high school varsity athlete who excelled in football and wrestling. He passed down his playful spirit and love for competition to his children, even coaching their youth sports teams.
God must have needed a cardiologist, because he called home the best there was. Trevor will be greatly missed by all those who called him dad, husband, son, brother or friend. May his memory be a reminder and an inspiration for us all to be kind, thoughtful, helpful and humble.
Trevor is survived by his children, Sydney and Dylan, wife Kelly, parents Dr. Anthony and Barbara Holly Verga, brothers Adam and Dale (Liz), and many wonderful friends and coworkers.

It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Trever Verga at NSUH cardiology. Condolences to his entire family and friends. A huge loss for his patients. May you rest in peace Trevor and may your memory last for all times.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:18
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of Dr. Trevor Verga. He was such a talented and charismatic doctor with a heart of gold! The light he brought into the world will always remain in the hearts of his family, friends, patients, and colleges. May he rest in eternal peace.
Miss him dearly.
I know you and I can see that your brother sounds like an outstanding man like yourself. I did not know him but I know you and I am blessed to know a friend like you.
May you always keep him in your heart.
I’m a medical student at Stony Brook. I met Dr. Verga when I walked in on him interviewing a patient that we shared. He greeted me with such kindness and told our patient that “the med student is the most important person in the room right now”. He made me feel so special and important in the brief time we had. He asked me about my aspirations and offered for me to reach out to him if I ever needed anything. He was truly an amazing person. I send my deepest sympathies to his family loved ones.
You will be missed beyond. I admired you and you always took the time to ask about my family when I saw you. I trusted you immensely and respected you for the great doctor you are. I hope you are at peace and know how much you truly meant to so many people.
Rest Easy TAV 💔
You will never know how many lives you have touched and how much you meant to everyone. I prayed for a different outcome. God Bless his family. May his children find comfort in prayers.
I was hopeful that there would be a different outcome and deeply saddened by this news. Dr. Verga was truly one of the kindest doctors I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with as a nurse, and his patients loved him. He will be missed by many. I wish for peace for his family & friends in this time of sorrow.
And flights of angels sing thee to they rest.”
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
RIP Dr Verga you will be missed
And moment fades
Reality of loss sets in
I fear not for what’s ahead
But what’s left here in this moment
I pray they don’t forget
The love you carried for them
I pray we never forget
The lessons you have taught us
May we all remember the simpleness
In which you gave
Your opinion
Your friendship
Your compassion
Your trust
Yourself
And hold true to honoring that memory
As we say our final goodbyes
You will be missed
You were loved
You are home now
Rest peacefully my friend, my colleague
And let the light you lit
Continue to shine on in the hearts
Of those whose lives you have touched
💔😢
My heart goes out to his family.
So sad to hear this. I last saw Dr. Verga on 12/10/21. He was very upbeat, even took a selfie with me and said I would live to 100 and he would show me the picture then. 😢
Dr. Verga was our son in laws doctor for 9 years…so very sad ….
There are no words to express how sorry I am never to have met this wonderful
man. Our hearts and thoughts are with you.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Trevor and his family.
My Mother, Marilyn Vadyak and I, (Lisa Merrell) extend our condolences to the Verga family, his friends and colleagues. His soft and calming voice were a God send to my mother and I when she had health issues. He assured us that all would be ok. May the memories you hold nearest and dearest to your hearts help carry you through this difficult time. A wonderful, kind and caring Doctor who left us way before his time. May his memory be a blessing, and may He Rest In Peace.
I only knew Dr. Verga for a short time working in the office with him, but I can’t overstate what a welcoming and warm presence he had. He was loved by all of his patients and I wish I could have been witness to more of his patient care. You’ve inspired me to bring more compassion and understanding to my own work in healthcare! I’ll always remember the help you gave me when we were on call together. I know more about arrhythmias because of you. You are deeply missed and you’ll be remembered forever.
To Dr. and Mrs. Verga, Adam, & Dale- I am deeply sorry for your loss! I have no words for this tremendous tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to all of you, especially Trevor’s wife and children. 🙏🏻
Dear Dr Verga, it was an honor and a pleasure to be a patient of yours. Your kind mannerisms and sweet disposition were always welcoming. I hoped and prayed for a different outcome. I now hope you May Rest In Peace. You will be dearly missed.

As a NP in Stony Brook hospital, who worked with Dr Verga taking care of patients, it was heartbreaking to hear of his passing. He was a kind and caring physician. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He will he missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
My thought and prayers goes out to his family and loved ones. ❤️
I think the world of what he was as a man, a doctor, an achiever, and a professional.
I prayed for you when you were lost but God needed you more. I now pray for your family and just know I will never forget you and I pray that you are at peace.
While I had not seen or spoke to Trevor for about 25 years, we were with each other most days in 1994-1995 at American before I transferred. While reading many peoples’ observations and thoughts about him, I see that he remained the kind, brilliant and steadfast young man I knew and enjoyed. I am so sorry to his family and friends, especially the ATO brothers whom I know are grieving this tremendous loss.
I hope, Trevor, you meet up with my cousin Michael. He too was beautiful soul, pure of heart, a kindred spirit to help pave the way.
I am glad I got to be in the room with you even if it was only for a short time. You will be missed.
To the Verga family, I offer my condolences which seem like so little in the face of such a tragic and heartbreaking end to such an amazing person. I pray that knowing he is watching over you from above and remembering the joy he brought to everyone around him will bring comfort to you.
I offer my deepest condolences to Trevor’s family. He was a great influence in my life trajectory when we met in medical school.
He is sorely missed.
My sister Carol and I express our sincerest condolences on the passing of Trevor. I only met Trevor once when he was about 2 years old and you brought him to meet us at my parent’s home in Hewlett. It is evident that from all the beautiful comments we have read about him as an adult, he grew up to be a wonderful person and an extremely well respected doctor. We are so saddened that you have to go through such a terrible loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Trevor was my brilliant colleague and cherished friend at North Suffolk Cardiology for 10 years during which time I was honored to witness his superlative talent as cardiologist /electrophysiologist but more meaningfully his gentle kindness, endless compassion, constant concern, unselfish generosity, soothing reassurance and remarkable quick wit.
He will be sorely missed by us all.
May he rest in eternal peace and watch over us. …
It has been said “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories and the legacy of a life that meant so much”.

my condolences to his family❤️
I wasn’t your patient very long but you were so nice and I’m glad that I got to share a few laughs with you during my appointment with you.
May you RIP 🙏💔😢
I just learned of the passing of Dr. Verga. I’m extremely saddened of this news and my heart is totally broken. He was one of my first Drs. to get established with, 4 1/2 yrs ago when I moved to Long Island. His kindness and caring manner was just outstanding. Dr. Verga Rest In Peace. Sending Love and Prayers to family and friends.
I am heartbroken for Dr Verga and for everyone who loved him. He performed heart surgery on me a few years ago and at no point in time did I feel anything but safe in his care. Even though I did not spend much time with him, you could just tell that he was a special person… He made you feel like he was your close friend and that everything will be fine. He made sure if it. The world was a much better place with “Dr.Trevor”. May God bless him and his family. I am deeply sorry to hear of his passing. ❤️🩹
Thinking of Trevor’s family as we mark one year- Trevor was a colleague and I trusted my parents care in his hands. Much love to his wife and kids- he always spoke so proudly of you.
