Born in:
Brooklyn, NY
Resided in:
Smithtown, NY
Veronica (Ronnie) was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1934. She was the youngest of nine siblings. In 1954, she married William (Bill) Moran. They moved from Brooklyn to Brentwood, where they raised a houseful of kids.
Faith has always been a significant part of who Ronnie was. She graduated from St. Brendan’s and continued to share her Catholic education by being active in St. Anne’s Parish. She was one of the founding families at St. Luke’s, where she was a eucharistic minister and taught religious education classes to children and adults through The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program. In 1969, Ronnie and Bill were instrumental in the startup of Pronto of L.I. She served on the board for many years (along with Bill), and was also an active volunteer for the many events that Pronto held to serve the community. Ronnie instilled the importance of service to her children, which they passed on to their children.
When the family moved to Smithtown, Ronnie joined St. Patrick’s Parish. She became a part of the RCIA team, was a member of the Legion of Mary, and was a minister of consolation. After Bill passed away in 1995, Ronnie opened Ave Maria Catholic Shop on Main Street in Smithtown, sharing her faith with the community in a different way.
In addition to faith, family and friends were essential to her. Ronnie had many adventures with loved ones. With friends and family, she took multiple cruises, visited several states, and enjoyed going to Ireland, Italy, and Jerusalem. Whether it was Big Bass Lake, Club Med, Disney, or a family party, she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She remained a woman of faith, and continued to show and tell her family and friends how much she loved them until her death.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Habitat for Humanity, Pronto of L.I., or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
