Vincent Ruffini, age 84, of Rocky Point, NY died May 15, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome/Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born November 5, 1941 in Queens, NY and later moved to Miller Place, NY with his parents and two brothers.
Vincent was married to his beloved wife Mary Rose for 55 years. He was the cherished father of Daniel (Monique), Janice (Chris), and Thomas (Julia), and a proud and loving grandfather to Evan, Ysabela, Caitlyn, Jase and Charlotte.
Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Mary Ruffini, and his brother Robert Ruffini. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Dennis and his wife, Susan, as well as their son, Vincent’s godson, Matthew, his wife Melissa and their daughter Rowynn.
Vincent graduated from Port Jefferson High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in General Education from SUNY Brockport. He later earned a Master’s degree in Education from SUNY Stony Brook. Vincent taught junior high math classes in Central Islip School District and then went on to teach math for 28 years at Comsewogue High School before retiring in June 1997.
Vincent had a number of interests and hobbies including hiking, birdwatching, photography and golf. He was a long-time member of the Port Jefferson Golf Club and later worked and played at Cherry Creek Golf Links in Riverhead. He enjoyed his time working with thoroughbred horses at both Belmont and Saratoga Race Tracks in the early 1980s. He was well traveled, undertaking two major self-guided tours of Europe, including one on his motorcycle in the 1960s. He also led the family on a cross-country trip during the summer of 1983, visiting most of the US National Parks and other historic sites. In his downtime, he enjoyed watching football, British murder mystery programs and an inordinate amount of Seinfeld reruns (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
At Vincent’s request, there will be no public service. A private celebration of life will be held at a later time.
