Warren Nevon Stith was born February 25, 1943 in Caperton, West Virginia to the late Raymond Spencer Cousins and Dorothy Stith. He departed this life on January 9, 2024 at his home, 3 Fiore Court, Saint James, N.Y. 11780.
Warren spent his childhood and early adolescent years in the mountain state of West Virginia, later moving to Hempstead New York. He graduated from Hempstead High School on June 26, 1961.
Warren united in Holy Matrimony with Ms. Joyce Myers on November 2, 1962. This union was blessed with four lovely children-Pamela, Patricia, Warren Jr. and Peggy Stith.
Warren enlisted in the United States Air Force in March of 1962 during the Vietnam War. After serving four years of active duty and achieving the Rank of Airman Second Class A2C E3, he was Honorably Discharged, March of 1966 and remained in the US Air Force Reserve until March of 1968.
Upon completion of his service in the Airforce, Warren enlisted in the US Army National Guard in August of 1979. Having served faithfully and honorably for Twenty Four years and achieving the Rank of Staff Sergeant E6 he was Honorably Retired, February of 2003. Warren was also a Past Commander and active member of The Gomillion Campbell American Legion Post 1488.
Warren was the first African American to work for the Long Island Light Company “LILCO” as a lines man in the 1970’s. He also worked for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) Long Island Bus as a Bus Operator, retiring after 27 years of service to Nassau County, February of 2007. After retirement Warren moved to Ohio to be closer to his siblings. He then spent 14 years in the Buckeye state with the Stith family. There he enjoyed the love and company of his siblings, nieces & nephews, fishing, bar-b-ques, family reunions, casinos and anything else that involved family.
His favorite sayings: “I love EVERYBODY” “Love of Family” “Go make that money!” “Stop it, Stop it, Stop it!”
He had a great love of music and loved to dance.
He Loved the casino and the lottery, he was very, very, very lucky.
He Loved to have his drink, LOL.
He was Generous and always giving
Julio was his nickname for his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews.
He would always tell you, “You not gonna out talk me”, LOL
Preceding him in death other than his parents, were his Wife Joyce Myers Stith, Grandson Lionel Collier Jr., three sisters Alberta Stith Franklin, Kay Frances Caesar, Joyce Nadine Crump and three brothers Delacy Stith, Russell Stith and Harold Stith.
He leaves to lovingly and always cherish precious memories; his children Pamela Stith, Warren Stith Jr. and Peggy Stith of Hempstead, New York and Patricia Stith of Saint James, New York.
He also leaves to mourn sons Ronald Mitchell of Edgewood, Maryland and Daryl McClenic of Queens, New York.
11 Grandchildren who adored their “POP POP”: Tasia (Brendon) Urbano, Michael S. Prince Jr, Malik Stith, Randy Stith, Kayla Person, Raekwon Stith, Rodney S. Felder, Tiara Grier, Kenneth Brown Jr, Quintin Felder, Jakkai Stith and 13 Great grandchildren (Kayce Urbano, Kaisa Urbano, Khari Urbano, Kal-El Urbano, Kayla Urbano, Karim Urabo, Kristiano Urbano, Klaire Urbano, La’Mya Prince, Karter Stith, Harley Stith, Kaeden Stith and Kairo Stith. Brother: Rev. William (Janice) Stith of Spencer Oklahoma, Sisters in Law Marie Nelson, Martha Myers and Phyllis Myers, Brothers in Law: Elie (Ruthie) Myers, Lavern (Barbra) Myers, Uncle: Blane Cousins of Roanoke Virginia, The Cousins and The Stith Families full of nieces, nephews and cousins and a host friends that LOVED him dearly
