When I met Bill, we discovered we were both Trekkies. Living in Singapore before the internet, we had no access to good TV so he used to record Star Trek episodes and send them to me. Those tapes were like gold! And from the very beginning, Bill has always been my Captain.

Gonna Cost Triple - Once when Bill arrived in Singapore, he had caught a bit of a cold on the plane. He wasn't afraid to try traditional Chinese medicine, so we took him to a shop in Chinatown where they brewed it up and let you drink if from a bowl (trad tonal, instead of a cup) while seated in the shop. The doctor took one look at Bill - a giant of a man by Singapore standards - and said, "This is gonna cost you TRIPLE the price!" Bill agreed that sounded fair! He sat and drank the medicine (a bitter, witchy brew) cheerfully. Passers by were so intrigued, he drew a big crowd. The doctor joked that he'd hire Bill to sit there all day as an attraction, the cheerful foreign giant.

No "Fear Factor" Possible! Bill was such an adventurous eater, even when we tried to do a "fear factor" on him with exotic foods, he just grinned and ate everything!

C is for Cookie - To our daughter, "Uncle Bill" was the best! Still remember him doing his Cookie Monster voice and singing C is for Cookie to her, feeding her cookies and keeping her entertained. When she dropped cookie crumbs all over him, Bill just shrugged and ate them - and then smiled his trademark Cheshire Cat grin!
