Penny was her grandchildren’s biggest fan and was always sure to remind them that they were #1.

Eileen is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Eileen was a proud graduate of Kings County Nursing School where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She received her Bachelors at St. Francis College and her Masters at Adelphi University. Eileen worked as a nurse for many years and found her passion as a nurse educator. She taught nursing at Nassau County BOCES for the remainder of her career. She strongly advocated education not only for herself and family but for her students as well. Eileen wanted nothing more than to see her students succeed and this career brought much joy to her life. Through her work she developed lifelong friendships with her colleagues, who became like family.

After retiring from BOCES, Eileen continued to serve others through volunteering. She especially enjoyed helping recent immigrants to the United States become acclimated to their new home. Eileen also spent time in Russia with her husband Joe and tutored American students who were living with their families in Moscow.

Eileen spent her retirement years with Joe in Jensen Beach, Florida, where they made many wonderful friends. She was very involved with the Fairwinds Cove community and loved to make new residents feel welcomed. They enjoyed spending summers in Lake Luzerne in the Adirondacks with their family. Eileen and Joe travelled to many exciting locations including Russia, Germany, France, Austria, Medjugorje, Italy, Ireland, Turkey, Singapore, Bali and much of the United States, just to name a few! They loved every place they visited and made friends along the way.

Eileen’s outlook on life was loving and hopeful. She gave and received much love by those who surrounded her during her life. She truly modeled love and acceptance to her core. She will be deeply missed by her family and her energetic spirit will live on in their memories.

The family would like to thank the many dedicated caregivers at Whisper Woods and the excellent staff at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital who cared for Eileen.
