Born in:
Brooklyn, New York
Resided in:
Smithtown, New York
Louis Charles Kron was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 27, 1946. He attended St. John’s Preparatory School as a child and later was in the US Navy and attended the College of Insurance. He would go on to start his own insurance business, Kron Associates, and purchase the eponymous Kron Building in East Northport, where he would run his various businesses. Many people will remember him as the host of Madison Steak House in Hauppauge, which he owned for almost twenty years. The restaurant frequently presented oldies shows, including such bands as the Brooklyn Bridge and Risky Business. As a philanthropist, he ran annual Christmas fundraisers at Madison’s for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. In addition, he also helped raise funding for Hope House Ministries and the League of Yes. Lou’s favorite hobby was fishing and crabbing on his boats, the Little Jack and Mr. D.J., and he loved going down to Marathon Key to spend time fishing with his grandson, Jack. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed being a D.J. and playing the drums, as music was a life-long passion of his. His is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette, his daughters, Michele and Denise, his sons-in-law, Rich and Marc, and his three grandchildren, Jack, Sienna, and Nicholas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

During my early youth, Lou was one of my best friends. He and I had a passion for fishing, and we went on some great trips together. Perhaps the best was on August 15, 1960. We had to earn $10 each to pay for the fare on Captain Carl Forsberg’s iconic fishing boat, the Viking Star, on Montauk Point. We earned the money by washing cars and cleaning gardens. We were rewarded with a great trip, on which we each caught cod over 20 pounds.
Lou lived right across the street from me in Glendale, Queens. He would stop over unannounced, sometimes to see me but more often to visit my bachelor uncles, who lived on the first floor of our two-family rowhouse. My uncle Emil taught Lou how to play the drums, and all three of my uncles played pinochle with him.. They called him, “Pinocle Lou”.
Lou was always a go-getter, even as a young boy. We had annual fundraisers in our Catholic elementary school…such as selling magazine subscriptions, and Lou was usually the biggest money raiser in his class. It was certainly a sign of things to come.
After high school Lou and I went our separate ways for many years. I am very happy that we reunited in the last ten years of his life.
We remember the very early days of dating, watching “Love Story” with the girls and goofing!! Marriage followed along with
babies, new homes and settling down. Fun didn’t end there…New Year’s parties and trips to Bavarian Manor and more parties!
Camping was Lou’s next big idea, so off to Willowemoc, and stuffing 4 adults and 4 kids in a camper…”too funny” and such a
good time! Time and responsibilities unfortunately stepped in the way, but these memories of EARLY GOOD TIMES cannot
be removed from the psyche! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED LOU! REST IN THE PEACE AND LOVE OF GOD.
A very sad but fond farewell to a loyal and generous man and good friend…Lou and Jeanette were great hosts and supporters of Risky Business and so MANY groups and acts for years..we followed Lou from Brennans to Madisons which became our home for over 15 years..actually became HOME for so many people who like Them loved music….many bew friendships were formed there..It became a special place…thanks to Lou and Jeanette…it is missed and sadly we will never see a place like that again…Thank you ..may you rest in peace..musical I am sure..with a nautical twist…
Thanks for the great times my friend..
Rest in peace Lou. Thank you for all the great memories we had at Madison’s You will be missed by many
