Manuel Checa, age 91, of Sound Beach died Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Manuel was born August 2, 1925 in New York City, NY. He is the son of the late Manuel and Vincenta (Blanco) Checa. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalia (Artes) Checa in 2006. He retired from the Miller Place School District know as Mr. Checa as the Head Custodian in 1992. He is survived by two sons: Anthony Checa of Sound Beach, NY and Vincent Checa of Naples, FL, his sister, America Martinez of Spain and his grand daughter, Bianca Checa of Sound Beach, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 11:00 am on Saturday, September 17 at St. Louis De Montfort RC Church, 75 New York Avenue, Sound Beach, NY. A Private cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be Friday, September 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY.   5. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your Dad. I worked with Manny at the Andrew Muller Primary School from 1984-1988. At the time Mr Daly was the Principal. Manny was the most kind and considerate individual that I have ever had the pleasure to have known. He had a very special way with the children and the staff. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
