Richard Thomas Koffer, age 84, of Ridge, NY died Saturday, January 11, 2014. Born July 16, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William and the late Florence Koffer. He served in the Navy during the Korean War from 10/22/1948 to 09/16/1952. He was employed by AT&T, Manhattan, NY as an Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion, Stony Brook, NY and the Knights of Columbus, Stony Brook, NY. He is survived by his loving wife: Arlene (Matthews) Koffer, daughters: Kathleen DeFrank of Rocky Point, NY, Noreen Simone of FL, sons: Thomas Koffer of PA, Timothy Koffer of FL, sister: Jeanne Mahoney of VA, and Grandchildren, Anna, Joseph, Maggie, Brianne, Kelly, Alyssa, Kayla, Nicholas and Mathew. Predeceased by his Sister, Anne Tietjen. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 am on Thursday, January 16 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 614 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY with Rev. Richard P. Hoerning officiating. Burial will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 15 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY.
