Thomas Patrick Burns, 71, beloved father and grandfather of Nesconset, NY, died peacefully at home on October 16th, 2025. He was born on February 9th, 1954 in New York City to Edward and Cecelia Burns and lived in Queens most of his childhood before moving out to Long Island to start a family. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Matthias and Edward. He is survived by his children Christopher T. Burns and his wife Jacqueline, and his daughter Courtney A. Burns and his beloved grandson Liam Thomas.
He attended St Mary’s high school in Manhasset and Nassau community college and worked as a Security Officer in New York City for 20 years. At the same time he owned and managed various popular restaurants throughout Long Island. He was also a licensed Locksmith and in recent years he was a successful real estate agent and has been a respected member of the Smithtown community and the parish of Saints Phillips & James for over 30 years.
Tom had many friends throughout his life and loved sharing a good meal and a good joke with those around him. His charisma and sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A mass will be held at Saints Philip and James Church in St. James on Monday, October 27th at 10:15am, followed by burial at St. Patricks Cemetery in Smithtown.
